China for diplomatic settlement crisis in Ukraine

Budrigannews.com – According to a position paper released on Friday by the foreign ministry, China wants to stop the Russia-Ukraine crisis from getting out of hand and points out that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable options for resolving the conflict.
On Feb. 24, the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China demanded a complete ceasefire, a gradual de-escalation, and an improvement in the situation.
Conflict and war are of no use to anyone. The statement stated that “all parties must remain rational and exercise restraint, avoid stoking the embers and escalating tensions, and prevent the crisis from further deteriorating or even spiraling out of control.”
Friday marked the beginning of the second year of the war in Ukraine, with no sign of an end and Russia isolated at the United Nations in a vote demanding the withdrawal of its forces. Meanwhile, leaders of the G7 are scheduled to coordinate additional assistance for Ukraine.
Jorge Toledo, the European Union’s ambassador to China, told reporters at a briefing in Beijing on Friday that the EU will examine China’s position paper, despite the fact that it is not a peace proposal.
He stated, “Even though we are closely studying the paper, if the position paper is a positive sign for Ukraine, then it is a positive sign for the EU.”
China’s support for Ukraine is anticipated to become more active, according to Ukraine, which referred to the position paper as “a good sign.”
At the same briefing, Ukraine’s charge d’affaires Zhanna Leshchynska stated, “We hope they also urge Russia to stop the war and withdraw its troops.”
Despite significant defeats on the battlefield over the past year, Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated that he will intensify his efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. He has also raised the issue of nuclear weapons by announcing plans to deploy the brand-new Sarmat multi-warhead intercontinental ballistic missiles this year.
China’s foreign ministry stated, “Nuclear weapons must not be used, and nuclear wars must not be fought.” We oppose the creation and use of chemical and biological weapons by any nation, regardless of the circumstances.”
Putin indicated that Chinese President Xi Jinping would visit on Thursday, praising “new frontiers” in relations between Moscow and Beijing. On Friday, Xi is expected to give a “peace speech.”
The United States is concerned about China and Russia’s growing alignment.
According to the White House, U.S. President Joe Biden will hold a virtual meeting on Friday with leaders from the G7 and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to commemorate the anniversary and announce new sanctions against those who support Russia’s war effort.
China stated in its position paper that “they only create new problems” and that “unilateral sanctions and maximum pressure” cannot resolve the issue.
“China opposes U.N. Security Council-unauthorized unilateral sanctions. Unilateral sanctions and “long-arm jurisdiction” against other nations should be stopped by relevant nations.
