China criticizes new US sanctions
Budrigannews.com – On Monday, the Chinese foreign ministry stated that the sanctions imposed by the United States on two senior Chinese officials in connection with alleged violations of human rights in Tibet were illegal and seriously harmed Sino-American relations.
The Chinese Communist Party chief in Tibet from 2016 to 2021, Wu Yingjie, and Zhang Hongbo, a senior public security official in the region, were the targets of sanctions, the U.S. Treasury Department said on Friday.
China denies the allegations that it has implemented harsh policies to suppress ethnic dissension and regulate religious activities in Tibet.
