Slack’s creator, Salesforce, announced on Tuesday that it will launch a ChatGPT app with OpenAI for the workplace messaging platform. According to Salesforce, the AI chatbot will be used in the new tool to “deliver instant conversation summaries, research tools, and writing assistance directly in Slack.”
Slack’s chief product officer, Noah Desai Weiss, stated in the release, “There couldn’t be a more natural fit.”
Using the technology, employees will be able to get instantaneous summary of conversations, tools for faster research, and assistance writing messages for coworkers. The vast collection of online data on which ChatGPT has been trained will be used as sources for the information that the tool will draw from Slack’s channel archives.
The apparatus is as of now in beta testing. To be added to the waitlist, companies interested in joining can complete a form on OpenAI’s website.
The introduction of ChatGPT to Slack is the most recent example of the AI chatbot being integrated into additional services. OpenAI granted third-party businesses access to the tool last week. Instacart, Snap, and Quizlet, a tutoring app, were some of the first partners to try adding ChatGPT.
At the end of November, OpenAI made ChatGPT available to the public, and the tool’s remarkable capacity to generate original essays, stories, and song lyrics in response to user prompts awed many users. The tool received a lot of attention at first, which helped revive a competition among tech companies to create and incorporate AI tools of a similar nature into their products.
