- Charles Hoskinson calls out The Block for its passive-aggressive reporting.
- “Journalists always tell you who they are,” declares the American entrepreneur.
- This is not Hoskinson’s first Twitter (NYSE:) argument with a crypto journalist.
Acclaimed founder of the blockchain, Charles Hoskinson, claps back at crypto news outlet The Block for its coverage of the Vasil upgrade. “It’s amazing to me to see the passive aggressiveness in some of the headlines,” the tech entrepreneur remarks, tagging The Block’s recent article titled, “Cardano’s Vasil upgrade triggers after a 3-month delay.”
It’s amazing to me to see the passive aggressiveness in some of the headlines. We’ve just completed a major milestone that took coordination and testing from people and companies across the world, but the news item is “three month delay”?Journalists always tell you who they are https://t.co/6cSg9pQIoL

“We’ve just completed a major milestone that took coordination and testing from people and companies across the world, but the news item is “three-month delay,” observers Hoskinson in his latest post, adding that journalists always tell you who they are.
It is, however, true that one of the controversial aspects of the Vasil upgrade was its numerous delays. Earlier in August, Hoskinson even posted a video addressing the hold-ups. At the time, he claimed that Vasil was the most ambitious upgrade to date as it required changes to the Plutus programming language and the consensus protocol. This meant more thorough testing requirements compared with previous releases, leading to setbacks.
Interestingly, this is not Hoskinson’s first run-in with journalists. His previous altercation was with crypto journalist Laura Shin over her representation of him in her non-fiction account of Ethereum’s development — the Cryptopians. This particular tiff was regarding Hoskinson’s Ph.D., which Shin claimed was fake.
The much-awaited Vasil upgrade is believed to bring considerable improvements using Cardano’s hard fork combinator (HFC) approach. Vasil is also expected to enhance the network’s performance by increasing throughput, script efficiency, and reducing latency in block transmission. The crypto space, especially the Cardano community, eagerly waits to see the effect this upgrade will have on the network and the price of ADA.
