CD Projekt’s profit for the third quarter is above forecasts
Budrigannews.com – With the help of sales of its flagship Cyberpunk 2077 game, Polish video game developer CD Projekt’s third-quarter net profit increased by more than 500 percent, exceeding expectations.
Cyberpunk: reignited interest in the game.The Netflix-exclusive anime series Edgerunners (NASDAQ:)in September, when a game update will be made available, the company stated.
According to a statement released by CD Projekt, Chief Executive Officer Adam Kicinski, “the popularity of the series and the positive reception of the 1.6 update to Cyberpunk 2077, released a week earlier, had a measurable impact on the game’s sales.”
Compared to analysts’ expectations of 88 million zlotys, net profit was 98.7 million zlotys, or 21.94 million zlotys.
The studio behind The Witcher series also reported revenue of 245.5 million zlotys, which was 70% higher than anticipated and exceeded expectations.
Without providing a specific number, CD Projekt’s Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz stated that Cyberpunk 2077 sales in the third quarter were the highest of this year.
In September, the company said that it had sold 20 million copies of the game so far, up from more than 13.7 million in its first year.
