Budrigannews.com – According to officials, a bus caught fire in the southern Pakistani province of Balochistan on Sunday, killing more than 40 people.
Israr Umrani, a district police officer, told Reuters that 41 bodies, some of which had been burned to the point of recognition, had been found among the rubble.
According to officials, the bus carrying approximately 48 people collided while traveling from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, to Karachi, a southern city.
The footage that was shared by the Edhi Foundation aid and emergency response organization showed that dozens of people were combing through the wreckage, and ambulance workers were removing a body from the rubble.
According to the Dawn newspaper, the vehicle had struck a bridge and fallen into a ravine, where it caught fire, according to Assistant Commissioner Hamza Anjum for Lasbela, a district in Balochistan.
In Pakistan, where traffic laws are rarely followed and roads in many rural areas are in poor condition, fatal accidents on the road are common.
In June, a passenger van in Balochistan fell into a deep ravine, killing at least 22 people, including nine members of a family.
