Canada June retail sales down 0.3% on autos; seen up 0.6% in July

Aug 23 (Reuters) – Canadian retail sales fell by 0.3% in June from May at C$65.73 billion ($48.37 billion), led by lower sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers, Statistics Canada said on Friday. Sales were likely up 0.6% in July, the agency said in a flash estimate.

In June, sales were down in four of nine subsectors, representing 50.4% of retail trade. In volume terms, retail sales increased 0.1%.
