Brazil’s President makes personnel changes
Budrigannews.com – According to incoming Finance Minister Fernando Haddad on Thursday, Brazil’s President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will announce the new chief executives of state-run oil company Petrobras, state-controlled lender Banco do Brasil, and state lender Caixa Economica Federal on Friday.
According to two sources familiar with the situation, Brazilian Senator Jean Prates, a member of Lula’s Worker Party, is expected to become Petrobras’ new CEO.
Prates, who has been in the energy business for more than 25 years, has advocated for Petrobras to increase its investments in renewables and the refining sector for energy security.
Additionally, the senator has questioned Petrobras’ current pricing strategy, which is in line with international market practices.
