In light of the global push by energy companies for decarbonization, the oil major is increasing the rate at which it liquidates fossil fuel assets in order to raise funds to invest in renewable energy projects.
At the M&S Maidstone Eclipse and Southgate stores, the first pilot charging sites are operational. The initial goal is to install approximately 900 points, adding up to 40,000 kilowatt-hours of charging capacity within the next two years.
By 2030, BP intends to invest up to £1.22 billion in the UK’s infrastructure for electric vehicle charging.
In 2005, M&S and BP launched M&S Food stores at BP retail locations. At more than 60 bp-operated forecourts, which also offer M&S Food, there are already more than 250 pulse charge points available.
