Budrigannews.com – On Christmas Day, a passenger bus triggered a landmine in eastern Burkina Faso, killing at least 10 people and injuring five more, the government said in a statement on Monday.
The bus was heading to Kantchari, a border town near Niger, from the market town of Fada N’Gourma, which is about 220 kilometers (136 miles) from Ouagadougou, the capital.
The attack occurred in a region where the government is fighting insurgents affiliated with al Qaeda in north Africa and Islamic State. No one has claimed responsibility for it.

In Burkina Faso, the insurgents own substantial portions of the country. More than 2,000 people have been killed and nearly 2 million people have been displaced as a result of their raids and blockades of several towns in the north and eastern parts of the country since 2015.
