Budrigannews.com – On Friday, the second anniversary of the attack on the Capitol, the White House announced that President Joe Biden would hold a ceremony to commemorate the “courage and patriotism” of those who resisted the Jan. 6, 2021, assault.
Biden will have a rare opportunity to discuss the issues raised by the deadly riot by Trump supporters at the event on Friday in the East Room of the White House. Their actions delayed the declaration of the Democrat victory in 2020.
On Air Force One, a spokesperson for the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, stated to reporters, “An important focus of his remarks will be on recognizing Americans who showed courage and patriotism, who put themselves in danger on behalf of others and on behalf of our democracy.”
“On Jan. 6, there were proceeded, innumerable instances of Americans who made an appearance and showed those best upsides of what our identity is thus you’ll hear from him straightforwardly. … She stated, “The president wants to lift up the Americans who stood up during one of our democracy’s darkest days.”
Biden has stated that he intends to run for a third four-year term, but he has not officially announced his candidacy.
Trump, who never yielded rout in the 2020 political race, has previously declared that he is looking for his party’s selection again in 2024.
Last month, the Democratic-led panel investigating the attack in the United States House of Representatives requested that federal prosecutors charge Trump with four offenses, including obstruction and insurrection. Congress had referred a former president for criminal prosecution for the first time in history.
Trump, who is the subject of two additional federal investigations, has claimed that the House investigation is partisan.
On the morning of January 6, 2021, the former president delivered a passionate speech to his supporters in which he publicly reprimanded Vice President Mike Pence for not supporting his plan to reject Biden votes.
After that, Trump waited for hours before making a public statement, even though thousands of his supporters stormed the Capitol, assaulted police, and threatened to hang Vice President Mike Pence.
Over 140 police officers were injured, and five people, including a police officer, died during or shortly after the incident. Damages totaling millions of dollars were done to the Capitol.
