Biden plans to Nagasaki for G7 summit
Budrigannews.com – According to reports in the media on Tuesday, U.S. President Joe Biden is thinking about going to the Japanese city of Nagasaki with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida when he visits the G-7 summit next year.
In May, Kishida will host G7 leaders in Hiroshima for a summit that is expected to focus on nuclear weapons threats.
During World War II, the United States of America dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Three days later, it dropped one on Nagasaki.
The first sitting president of the United States to visit Hiroshima was Barack Obama, who was in office at the time. The current president of the United States has never visited Nagasaki.
According to the newspaper, there is a plan for a visit to Nagasaki from both the American and Japanese governments. Additionally, the United States has approached Japan about the idea. The plan was first reported by Kyodo News.
Both the Japanese government and the White House did not immediately respond to inquiries for comment.
