Biden did not support the protests in Brazil

Budrigannews.com – On Sunday, supporters of far-right former President Jair Bolsonaro invaded Brazil’s Congress, presidential palace, and Supreme Court, according to U.S. President Joe Biden.
Biden stated that he was looking forward to continuing his collaboration with leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who defeated Bolsonaro last year in the most contentious election in a generation.
“I denounce Brazil’s attack on democracy and peaceful power transfers. “The will of the Brazilian people must not be undermined, and Brazil’s democratic institutions have our full support,” Biden stated on Twitter.
Biden described the situation in Brazil as “outrageous” earlier on Sunday.
The violence was similar to when supporters of former President Donald Trump invaded the U.S. Capitol two years ago.
After Brazil’s election on Oct. 30, months of tension were brought to a close by the sight of thousands of protesters in yellow and green running amok in the capital. The false claim that Brazil’s electronic voting system was susceptible to fraud was promoted by Bolsonaro, a Trump ally who has yet to concede defeat, and it led to a violent group of election deniers.
U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, posted on Twitter, “I condemn this outrageous assault on #Brazil’s govt buildings incited by demagogue Bolsonaro’s reckless disregard for democratic principles.”
“Even two years after January 6, Trump’s legacy continues to contaminate our hemisphere. It is essential to safeguard democracy and hold evil actors accountable.”
Bolsonaro missed Lula’s inauguration because he flew to Florida 48 hours before his term ended.
CNN was informed by Democrat Representative Joaquin Castro, who sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, that Bolsonaro “is a dangerous man” and “basically used the Trump playbook to inspire domestic terrorists to try to take over the government.”

Castro stated, “The United States should not be a refuge for this authoritarian who has inspired domestic terror in Brazil.” He ought to be returned to Brazil.”
