Belgians will get higher salaries
Budrigannews.com – HR service providers SD Worx and Acerta announced on Friday that in order to keep pay in line with inflation, more than a million Belgians will receive automatic pay increases of approximately 11% in January—the most in half a century.
According to the Belgian statistics office, Belgium experienced double-digit inflation for the fourth month in a row in December, with a rate of 10.35 percent.
All Belgian workers’ wages are legally linked to inflation under an indexing system that is also in place in Luxembourg, which protects their purchasing power but can put pressure on employers.
The method by which wage indexation is calculated varies by industry, but one million employees whose pay is recalculated annually on January 1 can anticipate an automatic pay increase of between 10.96% and 11.19%.
SD Worx predicted a pay increase of 11.59 percent in Belgium in October, when inflation reached 12.27 percent, its highest level since June 1975.

Since then, inflation has decreased as a result of lower prices for gasoline and diesel and lower electricity prices due to government policies.
