Barry Callebaut Chocolate Factory increases capacity
Budrigannews.com – The latest move by Barry Callebaut, a Swiss chocolate manufacturer, to expand production in North America is a $70 million investment in one of its factories in Canada.
At its Chatham, Ontario facility, the largest chocolate manufacturer in the world will expand production of dairy-free chocolate compounds, which are utilized by food manufacturers in desserts, ice cream, and confectionery.
Balaji Padmanabhan, vice president of Operations and Supply Chain, Americas, stated, “This new capacity will satisfy growing demand for our compound solutions in this dynamic consumer market from both food manufacturers and gourmet customers.”
During its most recent fiscal year, Barry Callebaut’s sales in the Americas increased by 6.4%, exceeding the market’s 0.7% increase.
Barry Callebaut, a Swiss company, said earlier this year that it would spend $104 million to build a new factory in Brantford, Ontario, to make sugar-free chocolate and other specialty items.
