Budrigannews.com – Following a physical examination that included removing a lesion from President Joe Biden’s chest and declaring him free of symptoms of long-term COVID after his bout with the virus last year, doctors declared the 80-year-old American president to be healthy and “fit for duty” on Thursday.

In a summary of the health exam, White House physician Kevin O’Connor stated, “The president remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.”

As Biden prepares for his anticipated run for a second term in 2024, the exam was closely watched. According to the summary, Biden did not exhibit any symptoms of “long COVID” and his stiff gait had not become worse since his most recent examination in November 2021.

Biden claimed his physical was successful. “Thank God for little favors,” he told NBC News. “Everything really went well.”

Biden had his second extensive examination since taking office in January 2021, spending three hours with doctors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the Washington suburb of Bethesda, Maryland.

According to the summary, Biden takes Crestor to lower his cholesterol, an anticoagulant to treat asymptomatic atrial fibrillation, medication to treat seasonal allergies, and medication for acid reflux.

O’Connor stated that liquid nitrogen was used to remove several small skin growths from his face and head, and “one small lesion on the president’s chest was excised today and sent for traditional biopsy.” The outcomes are pending.

Biden’s weight had decreased by six pounds, from 184 pounds in 2021 to 178 pounds, according to the summary. His blood pressure was 126/78, compared to 120/70 in 2021, and his body mass index was 24.1 instead of 25.0.

The summary didn’t say if Biden took any of the cognitive tests that are sometimes given to people his age.

According to O’Connor, significant spinal arthritis is the cause of Biden’s back stiffness.

He stated, “The president’s gait remains stiff, but has not improved since the previous year.”

Although Biden, the oldest president of the United States, has shrugged off questions about his age, polls show that voters are concerned about his capacity to serve another four years if he wins in 2024.

Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary, responded to a reporter’s question about the concerns regarding Biden’s age, ” This president delivers despite working a grueling schedule and working a grueling schedule every day.

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted from February 6 to 13, approximately three-quarters of Americans, which includes more than half of Democrats and the vast majority of Republicans, believe that Biden is too old to work in government. The majority of Democratic respondents stated that the president is still mentally sharp, but roughly half of them stated that he is unable to handle the physical demands of his position.

According to the physical, Biden works out five times a week and does not consume alcohol or tobacco.

According to 2020 data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Biden would be 86 years old at the conclusion of a potential second term. This puts him 13 years older than the typical American male’s life expectancy.

During a PBS interview last week, Biden said that Americans who were worried about his age should “watch me” do his job as president.

Last month, Jill Biden, 71, had cancerous skin lesions taken out.
