Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 1.21%
Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Financials and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Altium Ltd (ASX:ALU), which rose 19.75% or 5.91 points to trade at 35.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Ansell Ltd (ASX:ANN) added 8.59% or 2.16 points to end at 27.30 and Monadelphous Group Ltd (ASX:MND) was up 5.86% or 0.67 points to 12.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML), which fell 11.56% or 0.13 points to trade at 0.99 at the close. Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:KGN) declined 6.58% or 0.25 points to end at 3.55 and Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL) was down 6.47% or 0.05 points to 0.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 932 to 437 and 377 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 6.61% to 14.30.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 2.00 to $1,750.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.39% or 1.26 to hit $91.62 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.09% or 1.05 to trade at $97.53 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 0.69, while AUD/JPY fell 0.06% to 94.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 108.82.
