Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.28%

Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sydney, the declined 0.28%.

The best performers of the session on the were Polynovo Ltd (ASX:), which rose 9.96% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:) added 4.00% or 0.15 points to end at 3.90 and OZ Minerals Ltd (ASX:) was up 3.49% or 0.88 points to 26.13 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:), which fell 6.95% or 1.49 points to trade at 19.94 at the close. Magellan Financial Group Ltd (ASX:) declined 5.75% or 0.72 points to end at 11.80 and Breville Group Ltd (ASX:) was down 5.20% or 1.06 points to 19.33.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 863 to 480 and 403 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.21% to 16.74.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.87% or 14.60 to $1,668.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.12% or 0.95 to hit $83.81 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.70 to trade at $90.65 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.48% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY fell 0.08% to 95.96.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 109.76.
