Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the gained 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the were Alumina Ltd (ASX:), which rose 7.97% or 0.07 points to trade at 0.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Elders Ltd (ASX:) added 7.48% or 0.56 points to end at 7.97 and Resmed Inc DRC (ASX:) was up 5.88% or 1.47 points to 26.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EML Payments Ltd (ASX:), which fell 2.47% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.79 at the close. Platinum Asset Management Ltd (ASX:) declined 2.15% or 0.03 points to end at 1.25 and Tabcorp Holdings Ltd (ASX:) was down 1.91% or 0.02 points to 0.77.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 621 to 486 and 352 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.52% to 11.07.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.20% or 4.15 to $2,037.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $70.77 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.13 to trade at $76.25 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY fell 0.49% to 96.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 101.99.
