Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.77%
Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Telecoms Services and A-REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:ZIP), which rose 21.59% or 0.10 points to trade at 0.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Nearmap Ltd (ASX:NEA) added 17.95% or 0.18 points to end at 1.15 and Megaport Ltd (ASX:MP1) was up 15.94% or 0.77 points to 5.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW), which fell 3.70% or 0.15 points to trade at 3.90 at the close. Ampol Ltd (ASX:ALD) declined 2.61% or 0.89 points to end at 33.15 and Viva Energy Group Ltd (ASX:VEA) was down 2.48% or 0.07 points to 2.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 971 to 467 and 379 ended unchanged.
Shares in Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX:URW) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.70% or 0.15 to 3.90.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.47% to 18.53.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.05% or 0.90 to $1,828.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.32% or 0.33 to hit $103.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.46 to trade at $109.59 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 0.69, while AUD/JPY rose 0.02% to 92.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 104.06.
