Apple (AAPL) Lays Off Contract-based Recruiters in Hiring Slowdown – Bloomberg

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is said to have laid off various contract-based recruiters in the past week, according to Bloomberg.
Citing people with knowledge of the matter, Bloomberg said the move comes as the tech giant continues to reduce hiring and spending, with around 100 contract workers let go.
The recruiters were responsible for hiring new staff at Apple, which demonstrates the cuts represent an expected slowdown for the company, which told the workers the lay-offs were due to changes in the tech company’s business needs.
Last month, Bloomberg reported Apple was reducing the speed of hiring, joining various other tech companies that have also slowed the pace of hiring or made lay-offs.
In Apple’s earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said the company would hire people and invest in areas but be more deliberate in doing so as they recognize the “realities of the environment.”
Bloomberg stated Apple is still retaining full-time recruiters, while not all of its contractors were let go.
