Amazon received fine of more than 3 million in France
Budrigannews.com – Amazon.com (NASDAQ:) has been ordered by a French watchdog. to pay 3.5 million euros in fines for failing to amend third-party seller-related contractual provisions by the deadline, the watchdog announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, the consumer fraud watchdog DGCCRF of France said that Amazon had been told to make the changes by March 22 in order to fix contractual imbalances between third-party sellers and Amazon’s online marketplace.
The watchdog stated that Amazon had complied with DGCCRF’s orders a month later, on April 28, resulting in penalties of 90,000 euros per day of delay.
The DGCCRF’s requests followed an examination by the organization, set under the power of France’s money service, and prompted the end that Amazon didn’t keep the purported “stage to-business” rules embraced by the European Association in 2019.
Amazon stated that it would contest the penalties imposed by DGCCRF.
In a written statement, Amazon stated, “The DGCCRF has acknowledged that the changes we implemented in April are consistent with its injunction.”
“However, we continue to disagree with the DGCCRF and are challenging each of its findings, decisions, and related penalty in court.”
