Budrigannews.com – On Monday, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, the wife of actor Idris Elba, called on political and business leaders to increase investment rather than aid support for the world’s poorest nations.
The Elbas received honors for their work on climate change, food security, and environmental preservation at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
At the annual summit, the couple, who represent the United Nations’ International Fund for Agricultural Development as Goodwill Ambassadors, pleaded with attendees to provide quick financial assistance to those impacted by food insecurity and climate change.
According to Idris Elba, “the poor of this world are not just looking for aid and handouts; they’re looking for investment.”
The star of “Mandela: The Life and Times of Nelson Mandela” stated, “We understand the power and change that can come from this room… We can move with agility and speed, and your speed is needed now.” “Beasts of No Nation” and “Long Walk to Freedom” were added.
Sabrina Dhowre Elba emphasized the food crises in Somalia, Haiti, Sudan, and other nations, focusing on the plight of small-scale farmers who produce a third of the world’s food despite not having access to the resources they require.
She looked at her partner and said, “We are here at Davos to highlight the people and countries who are not making the headlines as much as my husband.”
