FCC wants to expand the use of drones
Budrigannews.com – On Wednesday, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States made a new set of guidelines to make licensed radio spectrum available for the increasing number of drones.
Drones currently typically operate under experimental licenses or unlicensed low-power wireless communications rules. Additionally, the FCC stated that it is seeking comments on the question of whether or not the rules that are in place for various spectrum bands are sufficient to guarantee that drones and terrestrial mobile operations can coexist.
A procedure for drone operators to obtain a license to communicate with air traffic control and other aircraft is also being proposed by the FCC.
