Brittney Griner will provide assistance to Americans imprisoned abroad
Budrigannews.com – Brittney Griner, a star basketball player for the United States, left an Army medical center on Friday to continue her recovery after being released from a Russian prison colony as part of a prisoner swap. She said she would work to help bring other detained Americans home and planned to return to the WNBA.
A week after arriving at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, Griner, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and eight-time WNBA All-Star, left the Brooke Army Medical Center, according to CNN.

She was then found guilty of smuggling drugs and sent to one of Russia’s most notorious penal colonies, where former inmates have spoken of being tortured, beaten badly, and forced to work as a slave.
Griner indicated that she intends to rejoin her WNBA team.
She stated, “I intend to play basketball this season for the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA, and as I do so, I look forward to being able to say ‘thank you’ to those of you who advocated, wrote, and posted for me in person soon.”
