Shooting and explosions in Kabul-Taliban report

Budrigannews.com – Two Taliban sources told Reuters that on Monday, armed men opened fire inside a hotel in central Kabul that housed some foreigners. This was the latest violence in Afghanistan as it tries to stabilize after U.S.-led foreign forces left.

The sources said that the firing was still going on in the hotel in the Shahr-e-Naw area, and that a fire broke out on one of the floors. They also said that they expected there to be casualties.

A journalist in Kabul shared a video on Twitter that showed smoke billowing from a multi-story building with one lower floor on fire. Reuters was unable to independently verify the video.

The attack, according to locals, took place at a building where Chinese and other foreigners typically stay. They claimed that a powerful explosion caused the shooting to continue.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban-run Afghan government, told Reuters that there had been an attack in Kabul, but they were unable to provide any additional details at this time.

The attack occurred near a Chinese guesthouse, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency, and the Chinese embassy in Kabul was closely monitoring the situation.

Reuters inquired for information and received no immediate response from the embassy.

A few bombarding and shooting assaults have occurred in Afghanistan lately, some of which have been guaranteed by Islamic State assailants.

After U.S.-led foreign forces withdrew from Afghanistan in August 2021, the Islamist Taliban declared that they are focused on securing the country.
