Budrigannews.com – The union and joint venture announced on Friday that workers at a battery cell manufacturing plant owned by General Motors and LG Energy in northeast Ohio decided to join the United Auto Workers.
According to the UAW, 710 workers at the joint venture Ultium Cells LLC plant near Cleveland voted in favor of joining the union. Ultium stated that it respects “the decision of our Ohio workforce supporting representation by the UAW” and confirmed that employees had voted to unionize. We anticipate productive collaboration with the UAW.”
The UAW’s ability to organize workers in the expanding supply chain for electric vehicles was put to the ultimate test in the closely watched vote.
