Ukraine detained a couple for espionage in favor of Russia
Budrigannews.com – In the Black Sea city of Odesa, one of the largest ports in Ukraine, a married couple who are suspected of spying for Russia has been detained by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU).
The couple were named in a statement released by the SBU on Thursday, but they were accused of gathering information for Russia about possible military deployment locations and the movement of air defense units.
According to the report, the couple was thought to be officers in Russian military intelligence who planned to establish a network of agents in southern Ukraine.

According to the report, SBU officers discovered computer equipment and mobile phones that contained evidence of “hidden correspondence with the aggressor.”
“When they attempted to transfer classified information to Russia,” the SBU stated, “the SBU detained both spies.”
For comment, the couple could not be reached.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February, Odesa has come under fire a lot, but it is still under Ukrainian control.
The detained man and woman, according to the SBU, arrived in Ukraine in 2018 with residence permits, and the man had served in the Russian army, according to the SBU.
It said that the information the detainees had gathered was sent to a former Russian special forces officer in Crimea who helped military intelligence. Russia took control of the Crimean peninsula in 2014.
The couple’s arrest photos, the detained man’s military documents showing his rank as colonel, and the detainees’ Russian passports were also made public by the SBU.
