U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.18%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the gained 1.18% to hit a new 3-months high, while the index climbed 1.36%, and the index climbed 1.36%.

The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 3.04% or 0.88 points to trade at 29.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) added 2.98% or 4.32 points to end at 149.16 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 2.96% or 1.20 points to 41.79 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Walt Disney Company (NYSE:), which fell 1.40% or 1.37 points to trade at 96.21 at the close. Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 0.39% or 1.11 points to end at 287.05 and Boeing Co (NYSE:) was down 0.25% or 0.44 points to 172.50.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:) which rose 12.76% to 79.86, Agilent Technologies Inc (NYSE:) which was up 8.10% to settle at 156.90 and CF Industries Holdings Inc (NYSE:) which gained 6.76% to close at 109.72.

The worst performers were Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 7.79% to 152.37 in late trade, Rollins Inc (NYSE:) which lost 6.14% to settle at 39.53 and Medtronic PLC (NYSE:) which was down 5.30% to 77.93 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Cosmos Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 86.93% to 0.33, Palisade Bio Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 81.08% to settle at 4.02 and Motorsport Gaming Us LLC (NASDAQ:) which gained 51.11% to close at 6.80.

The worst performers were Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 32.81% to 0.14 in late trade, WiSA Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 23.87% to settle at 0.20 and AGBA Acquisition Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 22.94% to 4.87 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2345 to 763 and 105 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2245 rose and 1548 declined, while 210 ended unchanged.

Shares in Medtronic PLC (NYSE:) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.30% or 4.36 to 77.93. Shares in Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 32.81% or 0.07 to 0.14. Shares in WiSA Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 23.87% or 0.06 to 0.20.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 4.79% to 21.29 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.07% or 1.15 to $1,740.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.41% or 1.13 to hit $81.17 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 1.05 to trade at $88.50 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.03, while USD/JPY fell 0.65% to 141.20.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 107.05.
