Budrigannews.com – The governor of the state said on Tuesday that two of the four Americans who went missing on Friday in the northern border state of Tamaulipas with Mexico are alive and two are dead.
During a phone call with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador prior to the president’s daily news conference, Tamaulipas Governor Americo Villarreal stated, “It’s been confirmed by the attorney general’s office, of the four, two of them have died, there’s one person injured, and the other person is alive.”
The four individuals were identified as Latavia “Tay” McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown, and Eric James Williams by ABC News on Monday.
When the four people were taken from their homes last week, authorities said that a Mexican bystander was killed.
Separately, Reuters was informed by a Mexican official that two of the men had been found dead. The official stated that the woman and another man were safe, alive, and in the custody of the authorities.
In relation to the kidnapping in Tamaulipas, which has long been one of Mexico’s most violent states, Lopez Obrador stated that one person was in custody.
On Friday, the four Americans entered the Tamaulipas border city of Matamoros in a white minivan.
According to the U.S. embassy in Mexico, gunmen opened fire on the passengers shortly after they entered Mexico, herded them into another vehicle, and then fled the scene.
