(Reuters) -Special Counsel Robert Hur has completed his investigation into whether or not U.S. President Joe Biden mishandled categorised documents throughout his time as vice chairman, Attorney General Merrick Garland mentioned in a letter to Congress on Wednesday.
Garland mentioned in the letter to House and Senate judiciary committee leaders that Hur had submitted his last report back to the White House and Biden’s private lawyer to permit for feedback and to evaluation for govt privilege.
After the White House evaluation, Garland mentioned, the special counsel’s report could be despatched to Congress. Garland mentioned he would make as a lot of the report public “as possible, consistent with legal requirements and Department policy.”
The White House anticipates the privilege evaluation of the report will likely be completed by the tip of the week, White House spokesperson Ian Sams mentioned.
The probe targeted on documents associated to Biden’s service as vice chairman to Democratic President Barack Obama from 2009-2017 and from his prior tenure in the U.S. Senate. They have been discovered at Biden’s residence and former workplace.
