Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.71%
Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Retail, Technology and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.71%, while the MDAX index declined 1.75%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.20%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn), which rose 0.67% or 0.95 points to trade at 142.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (ETR:MUVGn) added 0.58% or 1.30 points to end at 225.20 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was up 0.32% or 0.24 points to 75.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 8.46% or 2.92 points to trade at 31.59 at the close. HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) declined 7.65% or 2.79 points to end at 33.68 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) was down 4.93% or 2.01 points to 38.79.
The top performers on the MDAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) which rose 4.16% to 98.72, Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which was up 1.11% to settle at 127.60 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 0.94% to close at 59.30.
The worst performers were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) which was down 6.67% to 17.22 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which lost 6.33% to settle at 172.25 and Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which was down 5.53% to 235.80 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which rose 0.44% to 2.72, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was up 0.21% to settle at 24.15 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which lost 0.10% to close at 19.11.
The worst performers were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which was down 7.17% to 38.82 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 6.01% to settle at 48.50 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 5.55% to 10.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 518 to 159 and 88 ended unchanged.
Shares in Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 8.46% or 2.92 to 31.59. Shares in Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.53% or 13.80 to 235.80. Shares in Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.17% or 3.00 to 38.82. Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.55% or 0.61 to 10.30.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.98% to 22.72.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.22% or 4.05 to $1,852.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.25% or 0.31 to hit $121.80 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.19 to trade at $123.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 103.05.
