Ex-President Castillo may face arrest in Peru
Budrigannews.com – In advance of a new hearing, the court announced on Wednesday that the prosecution’s request for up to 18 months of preventative arrest for former President Pedro Castillo, who was charged with rebellion and conspiracy, is being considered by Peru’s Supreme Court.
After attempting to dissolve the Andean nation’s Congress, Castillo was arrested and removed from office last week during an impeachment trial. Prosecutors are now looking to move him from preliminary detention to preventive arrest after his initial detention is scheduled to end in the coming hours.
